Beginning in 2020, Audi integrated its innovation MIB 3 (Modular Infotainment Toolkit) infotainment platform in most of its lineup, adding an abundance of new Generation 3 technologies. Up to ten times faster than previous Audi hardware, MIB 3 features an in-vehicle hotspot with new audio-streaming-optimized basic unlimited Wi-Fi included with Audi connect® PRIME for connectivity of up to eight devices. The platform also features new Sirius XM with 360L, hybrid digital audio, and Function on Demand purchasing capability via the myAudi marketplace.

For 2022 model year nameplates, Audi has added even more functionality to the platform with Amazon Alex and the new Personalization 2.0 feature, which allows for saved profiles. Profiles retain user preferences for seat adjustment, favorite radio stations, climate control, and more. These personalizations are also transferrable to other MIB 3-equipped Audi vehicles. Here's a quick overview of some of the new MIB 3 functionality.

  • Alexa Returns: Amazon Alexa was initially implemented as a push-to-talk function via a steering wheel button. For the 2022 model year, most MIB 3-equipped Audi vehicles include Alexa functionality with an active Audi connect® PRIME or PLUS subscription. In addition to the "Hey Audi" in-vehicle function, Alexa can be used for at-home, smartphone-enabled tasks. This functionality enables you to use Alexa to set climate controls in advance, order groceries on the way home, and more.

  • Personalization 2.0: Make any Audi feel like your own: Personalization 2.0 allows a user to create a profile to save their preferences for climate control, locking, lighting, seat settings, and more. Cloud access allows users to transfer their profiles to other MIB 3-equipped Audi vehicles, whether it be for a business trip via Silvercar by Audi or for your multi-Audi family.

  • Online Car Care for stress-free maintenance reminders: With the available myAudi app push notification, Audi Online Car Care can alert you to maintenance or inspection needs, including brake pads, warning lights, and vehicle fluids. And by activating Audi Service Request, the system can automatically help you schedule an appointment.

  • Cut the Cord: Many 2021 Audi models already include wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity. And now, select 2022 MIB 3-equipped Audi models allow Android users to enjoy cable-free smartphone integration as well, including the Audi Q3, Q5, Q7, Q8, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, e-tron, and e-tron Sportback.

  • New Features: Select Audi models (A4, A5, and Q5 Premium and Premium Plus models) are now available with Function on Demand features, including MMI Navigation plus, Light Function Package, and more to be added later. A refreshed e-tron route planner now offers greater detail when searching for public charging stations, including finding Level 2 AC and Level 3 DC fast chargers.

  • Traffic Light Information for more green lights: Audi's innovative Traffic Light Information system leverages vehicle-to-infrastructure swarm technology to accurately predict connected traffic lights. Collected data includes when lights will turn green, how long they will stay red, and the necessary speed needed a driver needs to maintain to connected multiple green lights in a row. There are currently more than 21,000 TLI-active traffic intersections in more than 50 cities and regions across the country, with more activating monthly.

  • 2022 Model Availability:The latest MIB 3 infotainment features are scheduled to become available in the summer and fall of 2022 in the 2022 Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q3, Q5, Q7, Q8, e-tron, and e-tron Sportback models. Specs for 2022 Audi e-tron GT, Audi Q4 e-tron, and A3 models will be made available at a later date.
